Moong Dal
Moong dal is the quickest dal to get on the table: split, husked yellow mung beans that turn soft in 20–25 minutes without soaking. It's the base for dal tadka, khichdi, moong dal halwa or a quick dal with spinach.
We also stock moong chilka, split mung with the green skin left on and a slightly earthier taste, and whole green mung beans (sabut moong) for curries, pesarattu or sprouts. Brands include TRS, Aayush, Schani and Avanee, in packs from 500 g to 2 kg. Looking for the fried moong dal snack? That's in our snacks section.
Pantry tip: moong dal and basmati in equal parts, with a little ghee, cumin and turmeric, make a khichdi that's ready in half an hour.
Delivery is free from €40 and €4.99 below that, the same price anywhere in Germany, and orders usually arrive within 2–3 business days.

Frequently asked questions
- What's the difference between moong dal, moong chilka and whole moong?
- Moong dal is split and husked (yellow). Moong chilka is split but keeps its green skin. Whole moong (sabut moong) is neither split nor husked, takes the longest to cook and is the one to use for sprouting.
- Do you need to soak moong dal?
- Not the yellow split moong dal, a good rinse is enough. Soak whole green moong for 4–6 hours, then it cooks in three to four pressure-cooker whistles.
- How fast is delivery and what does it cost?
- We ship across Germany, usually within 2–3 business days. Delivery is free on orders from €40; below that it costs €4.99, the same price wherever you are in Germany.
